Local guides for planning your trip
Hola Gran Canaria collects guides written from the island: how to get around, which beach suits your plan, where to stay by area, and what deserves a whole day. The guides are reviewed by Enrique Medina, who lives in Las Palmas, and every dated figure or price links out to its official source.
Gran Canaria fits inside 50 kilometres and changes completely from one coast to the other: the north takes the trade wind and stays green, the south is sheltered and dry, and the middle rises past 1,900 metres. So the first decision is not what to see but where to base yourself. Start here:

Before you book
How many days do you need in Gran Canaria?
Three days covers the capital, the mountains and the south. A week also fits the north-west, Agaete and the inland villages without driving every day. More detail.
Do you need to rent a car?
Not for the coast: line 91 and the Global buses connect the airport, Las Palmas and the southern resorts. For the summits, the west and the trailheads, yes. More detail.
When is the best time to visit?
It works all year: highs move very little between winter and summer. The real difference is not the month but the coast, because north and south have different weather on the same day. More detail.
Where should you stay?
Maspalomas and the south-west for reliable sun and beach; Las Palmas for a city beach, restaurants and local life. It is the decision that changes the trip most. More detail.
