Finados night in Vegueta and Triana. Confirmed 2026 Los Gofiones have the Finados dance of Saturday 31 October 2026 in the Plaza de Santa Ana in their diary. The rest of the programme is unpublished: in 2025 (published 22 October) there was a theatrical re-enactment about the 1851 cholera epidemic in the Alameda de Colón at 21:00, the dance in Santa Ana at 22:00, and more than 300 kilos of chestnuts and 300 of pine nuts roasted and handed out at eight points. Free, and the council recommends traditional dress. In 2024 the concert was cancelled in mourning for the Valencia floods: check the listings on the day. Vegueta guide.

Finaween. Confirmed 2026 The council's youth programme at La Grada, the young people's creative space: Saturday 10, Saturday 17, Sunday 18, Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, in the afternoons, free and only for ages 12 to 30. Daily times were not published on 18 October.

Children's Halloween at Las Arenas. Confirmed 2026 Free: bouncy castle, "Zombie Alert", storytelling, neon painting on the terrace and a ghost train on the ground floor.

Night

Ticketed haunted houses and venues (per the ticket sites, over-16s or over-18s): the "El Hotel Maldito" tunnel at the Las Ramblas shopping centre (22–24 and 30–31 October and 1 November), the "Circo del Infierno" in a marquee next to Los Alisios (until 1 November, €16–25) and Halloween parties in city venues on the 29th and 31st (€10 to €25). Prices rise in tiers: check them on the ticket.

What there isn't: neither the Poema del Mar aquarium nor the Museo Elder had announced a Halloween 2026 event as of 18 October (the Elder ran a ticketed "Noche Temática" on 31 October 2025).

The best-known Finaos party in the hills. Chestnuts, seasonal produce and local wines at tables the town hall reserves for groups, with folk bands and a children's area. For 2026 a commercial guide gives Saturday 31 at 20:30 with La Trova and the Parranda Y Pa' Cuándo (the town hall had not published it on 18 October). In 2024 it was cancelled in mourning for the Valencia floods.

2025 edition

Santa María de Guía: a party in the Plaza Grande from 17:00 to 03:00 with chestnuts and hot chocolate.

No data Moya, Tejeda, Artenara, Agaete, La Aldea and Valleseco: nothing published for 2026 as of 18 October. Tejeda ran an escape room at the Abraham Cárdenes museum in 2025.

Finaos Night: the Canarian festival of 31 October

What it is. On the eve of All Saints, Canarian families remembered their dead ("finados") at home with the fruits of autumn: chestnuts roasted or stewed with anise, roast pine nuts and apples, walnuts, almonds and dried figs, and a glass of anise liqueur or ron miel (honey rum). Today's square parties, with folk bands and dancing, were revived in the 1980s; Teror's official chronicler points out that originally the finados were marked on 1 and 2 November, not the 31st.

"Asking for the saints". Children went from house to house with a cloth bag asking "¿hay santos?" and received almonds, walnuts, chestnuts and figs; it is the Canarian forerunner of trick-or-treating, documented in Agüimes and still alive in northern Tenerife as "Los Santitos".

The ranchos de ánimas. Groups who sing for the souls in Purgatory and hand what they collect to the parish, declared intangible cultural heritage by the Canary Islands Government in February 2025: in Gran Canaria those of Valsequillo, La Aldea de San Nicolás and Arbejales (Teror) survive. Their season runs from Santa Lucía (13 December) to Candlemas (2 February); at Finaos they appear as guest performers, as at Teror's Finca de Osorio.

What to bring. The square parties hand out roast chestnuts and pine nuts free (300 kilos of each in Las Palmas); anise and ron miel are served at the bars. Las Palmas city council recommends traditional Canarian dress, not a costume. More on these flavours in the Canarian food guide.

With children and for adults

• With children, free: Las Arenas (30 October to 2 November, 17:00–20:00), Gáldar's VillanoCon (30 and 31), Mogán's workshops at 19:00 on the 31st (the haunted walk is sold out), Vecindario's Finaos afternoons and the Finaos parties in Telde and San Mateo, which have a children's area and chestnuts.
• Haunted houses with a minimum age: Maspaterror is for over-16s (per the unofficial 2026 source; 12 in 2025), "Entre rejas" in Gáldar publishes no age, Ingenio asked for under-14s to be accompanied in 2025. The shopping-centre haunted houses in Las Palmas recommend 16 or over.
• Adults only: the ticketed parties in venues in Las Palmas, Meloneras and Playa del Inglés, with tickets from €10 to €60 and entry from 18 (some from 20 or 25). Prices rise in tiers as the day approaches.
• Firecrackers and eggs. Selling fireworks to minors is banned by age band (12, 16 or 18 depending on the category, Royal Decree 989/2015) and Las Palmas' by-law penalises setting them off against street furniture. In 2025 Guaguas Municipales and the national police ran an operation from 30 October to 1 November against egg-throwing at buses; incidents fell from more than a hundred to eleven.

Holiday and shops: 1 and 2 November

• Sunday 1 November is All Saints, a national holiday, and because it falls on a Sunday the Canaries moved the day off: Monday 2 November 2026 is a public holiday across the archipelago (Canary Islands Government Decree 61/2025; BOE of 28 October 2025). Saturday 31 is a working day.
• What opens. In Gran Canaria, Sunday 1st is not one of the ten authorised Sunday and holiday trading days of 2026, so large stores close; Monday 2nd is, and they open. Shops in the designated tourist zones have free opening hours all year: in Las Palmas, Triana, the port and Las Canteras (plus Mesa y López, El Rincón and Puerto de la Luz from October to April); in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas, San Agustín and San Fernando; in Mogán, from Arguineguín to Puerto de Mogán.
• Cemeteries. 1 November is the day for visiting graves with flowers; Valsequillo, for instance, extends its cemetery hours from 27 October to 2 November. If you visit, it is a day of quiet, not celebration.

Getting around on the night of the 31st

• Between Las Palmas and the south (Global, line 30). 31 October 2026 is a Saturday: the last bus from Las Palmas to Faro de Maspalomas leaves at 21:15 (from Santa Catalina and from San Telmo), and from the Faro to Las Palmas at 23:00 (earlier ones at 22:00, 22:15 and 22:35); the first in the morning is at 04:30. Sunday has the same timetable. If you go to the Finaos night in Vegueta from the south, there is no bus back after the dance: car, taxi or a night in the capital. Times and fares in the bus guide.
• Within Las Palmas (Guaguas Municipales). The Luna night lines run on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of holidays from 22:45 to 05:00–05:30, roughly every half hour (L1 Puerto–Hoya de la Plata, L2 Teatro–Santa Catalina, L3 Teatro–Tamaraceite); Saturday 31 and Sunday 1, the eve of a holiday, both have the reinforced timetable. Note: since 19 October, because of works at the Teatro terminal, Luna 2 and 3 leave from stop 496 on Rafael Cabrera (San Telmo).
• Neither Global nor Guaguas Municipales had announced a special Halloween service as of 18 October; in 2025 there were no timetable changes either.
• Gáldar and Agüimes are far from the night network: for the haunted house or "Ecos de los Reyes" a hire car is the practical option, and Gáldar's tickets are per session, so allow for the drive.
